A man was killed following a hit-and-run crash in Bakersfield on Saturday morning, May 3, 2025.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded to reports of suspicious circumstances at approximately 6:23 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of Westside Parkway near the Mohawk Street off-ramp.
When they arrived, they found a deceased man on the roadway. Evidence indicated that the man had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Authorities located the suspected vehicle involved in the crash around 3:30 p.m. in the 7300 block of Stockdale Highway.
The driver, identified as 51-year-old Tomice F., was arrested on charges related to hit-and-run causing death and driving with a suspended license.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased at a later time.
