[05-03-2024] Pedestrian Killed, Driver Injured Following DUI Vehicle Collision in FremontA pedestrian was killed, and a driver was injured following a DUI vehicle collision in Fremont on Friday evening, May 3, 2024. 

According to the Fremont Police Department, the collision happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 45000 block of Fremont Boulevard. 

Authorities stated that the suspect, identified as a 58-year-old Sunnyvale man, was driving under the influence when he collided with a pedestrian and later crashed into a traffic pole about a quarter-mile away. 

Police said that the unidentified pedestrian suffered major injuries but later died at the scene. The DUI driver sustained minor injuries and was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol. There is no available information regarding the identity of the pedestrian.

Further details regarding the collision have yet to be released by the authorities. Investigations are ongoing.
