A 32-year-old pedestrian was killed following a suspected DUI collision in Westlake, Los Angeles, early Thursday morning, May 2, 2024.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the fatal incident happened shortly after 1:30 a.m. around South Alvarado Street and Maryland Street.
Authorities said that a 20-year-old female driver suspected of DUI was traveling north along an alley when she struck the pedestrian, who was said to be lying down on the road. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the deceased was not available at this time. It is believed that the victim was a part of the unhoused community.
The female driver remained at the scene and was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. She was not of legal drinking age yet.
