A vehicle fire spread to nearby vegetation following a traffic collision in Oak Hills, San Bernardino County, on Friday evening, May 1, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 8:46 p.m. on the northbound Interstate 15 just south of Oak Hill Road.
Authorities reported that a white SUV and a gray pickup truck were involved in the crash near the center divider. All occupants were able to exit their vehicles safely before the fire began.
The fire extended from the vehicle to the surrounding hillside, igniting vegetation and prompting a response from fire crews. Emergency personnel worked to extinguish both the vehicle fire and the brush fire along the hillside.
The extent of any injuries has not been confirmed. Traffic in the area was impacted as crews responded and cleared the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
