According to the Long Beach Police Department, the fatal accident happened at around 8:05 a.m. at the intersection of Harbor Avenue and Anaheim Street.

Police stated that the crash involved a 2012 Toyota Camry with two occupants, a driver and a passenger, and a semi-trailer truck. The two vehicles were traveling westbound on Anaheim Street when the Toyota driver suddenly made an illegal left turn onto Harbor Avenue, colliding with the semi-truck.

Both occupants of the Toyota were taken to a nearby hospital after sustaining serious injuries. The driver died shortly after, while the passenger was said to be in critical condition. Their identities were not released at this time.

The semi-truck driver, who appears to be uninjured, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.

Police are investigating if the deceased driver was driving under the influence at the time of the crash. 

No further details were immediately available. Investigations are underway.
