[04-29-2024] One Person Killed, Another Injured Following Vehicle Vs. Truck Collision Near GilroyOne person was killed, while another was injured following a vehicle vs. truck collision near Gilroy on Monday afternoon, April 29, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the traffic crash happened around 12:45 p.m. at the Highway 25 and Bloomfield Avenue intersection.

The incident involved a female driver inside a blue sedan and a 48-year-old man driving a red 18-wheeler truck. They were the only occupants of their respective vehicles.

Reports show that the truck was traveling north on Highway 25, nearing Bloomfield Avenue, at around 40 mph, while the sedan was traveling westbound on Bloomfield, approaching the very same intersection. 

CHP investigators claim that the front of the truck hit the sedan as it was turning left onto Highway 25. The two vehicles were then stuck together until both pulled over on the shoulder of the roadway.

The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the truck driver sustained minor injuries to his left hand.

It is still unclear if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the deadly crash. No further information was immediately available.
