According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the deadly crash happened at about 9:55 p.m. along Winchester Road near Promenade Mall East.

The victim, later identified as Leland F., was reportedly on the road for unknown reasons when a car traveling at an unknown speed struck him. The driver of the vehicle, meanwhile, immediately stopped and called the authorities.

Paramedics arrived within just 15 minutes after the call was made and declared the victim dead at the scene.

Authorities have since ruled out the possibility of drugs and alcohol being factors in the accident. The driver was not arrested after questioning.

The fatal collision is still under investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
