[04-26-2024] Bicyclist Killed Following Bicycle Vs. Truck Hit-And-Run Collision in BakersfieldA bicyclist was killed following a bicycle vs. truck hit-and-run collision in Bakersfield on Friday evening, April 26, 2024.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the fatal incident occurred at around 6:58 p.m. at the intersection of Wible Road and Planz Road.

BPD’s initial investigation showed that the driver of a semi-trailer truck was traveling northbound on Wible Road when it crashed into a bicyclist going west on Planz Road. The truck driver reportedly left the scene initially but returned moments later when an eyewitness notified him of the crash.

The bicyclist died as a result of the accident. The victim’s identity was not available at this time.

BPD is still investigating the cause of the collision. They have since ruled out alcohol, drugs, and speed as possible factors.
