According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened just before 9:00 p.m. on Interstate 5, near the Cockleburr Road overpass.

CHP reports indicate that a sedan traveling southbound on I-5 at a dangerous pace went out of control and crashed into a semi-truck on the right-hand side of the roadway. 

The officers also mentioned that smoke was observed at the site of the incident but did not specify if any of the vehicles involved burst into flames.

The collision has reportedly resulted in the death of at least one person. No further injuries or fatalities have been reported in connection with the incident or the chain of events that led to it.
