[04-25-2024] One Person Critically Injured Following Two-Vehicle Collision in Citrus HeightsOne person was critically injured following a two-vehicle collision in Citrus Heights on Thursday afternoon, April 25, 2024.

According to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, the crash happened a little after 5:00 p.m. around Old Ranch Road and Oak Avenue.

SMFD said that a car struck a nearby tree after a prior two-vehicle crash sent it out of control. One person reportedly had to be removed from the car that hit the tree after falling unconscious. That person was then taken to a nearby hospital after sustaining critical injuries.

There is no word yet about the other vehicle involved or the current status of its occupant(s).

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Authorities have ruled out the possibility of DUI as a factor.
