A 35-year-old bicyclist was killed following a bicycle vs. vehicle collision in Oxnard on Sunday night, April 21, 2024.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, the fatal crash happened at about 9:40 p.m. at the northbound 101 Freeway offramp and Oxnard Boulevard.
OPD said that the bicyclist, later identified as Joey P. from North Hollywood, was riding southbound on Oxnard Boulevard using the northbound lanes when a 2012 Ford Edge struck him. The Ford driver, who remained at the scene, was allegedly making a right turn from the 101 northbound offramp when the vehicle hit the victim.
Investigators have ruled out speeding and driver impairment as possible factors in the crash, but the investigations are still ongoing. Other motorists on the northbound 101 Freeway experienced traffic delays as a result.
