According to the Oakland Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 11:21 p.m. when the bicyclist was crossing International Boulevard and was struck by an eastbound vehicle. The driver fled the scene without rendering aid.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance, where he later died from his injuries. His identity has not yet been released pending next-of-kin notification.

Authorities have not provided a detailed description of the suspect vehicle, and it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident.
