[04-13-2026] Alameda County, CA – Big Rig Overturns in Crash with Jeep on I-238 in Hayward

A big rig overturned following a crash with a Jeep on Interstate 238 in Hayward on Monday afternoon, April 13, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 3:45 p.m. just north of Mission Boulevard.

The Jeep driver reportedly had a medical emergency, causing them to crash into the big rig, which then overturned. Two southbound lanes of the freeway and the Mission Boulevard off-ramp were blocked until about 6:35 p.m., causing significant delays.

The driver of the big rig may have suffered a broken arm, while the driver of the Jeep experienced complications from their medical emergency. Neither vehicle had passengers.

All lanes were reopened by 6:35 p.m., and the crash remains under investigation.
