A teen died, and four others were critically injured following a DUI crash in Novato, Marin County, early Saturday morning, April 11, 2026.
According to the Novato Police Department, officers responded just before 1:00 a.m. to the intersection of Marin Drive and Simmons Lane after receiving multiple 911 calls about a crash.
At the scene, authorities found five teenagers between the ages of 16 and 18 with major injuries. All five were transported to the hospital, where one later died. The remaining victims sustained injuries ranging from critical to serious.
Investigators report that the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and crashed head-on into a metal utility pole. Police determined that the 17-year-old driver was under the influence of alcohol. No arrests have been made as those involved continue to receive medical treatment.
A preliminary investigation indicates the occupants were not from Novato or Marin County. The incident remains under investigation.
