[04-09-2025] Two Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash on Central Road in Apple ValleyTwo people were killed in a single-vehicle crash on Central Road near Waalew Road in Apple Valley, San Bernardino County, early Wednesday morning, April 9, 2025.

According to the Apple Valley Fire Protection District, at around 12:01 a.m., emergency crews were initially dispatched to a reported crash near Navajo Road and Waalew Road. Upon arrival, it was determined the crash occurred on Central Road, south of Waalew Road near a curve.

Preliminary reports indicate that a dark-colored Dodge Charger was traveling northbound on Central Road when it left the roadway for unknown reasons. The vehicle crossed a desert field, struck a wooden utility pole, and came to rest near Walpi Road.

American Medical Response and Medic Engine 332 were dispatched but later canceled after deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed at least two fatalities.

Firefighters returned around 5:00 a.m. to assist with extricating at least one of the occupants. Southern California Edison crews responded to repair the damaged utility pole.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
