[04-09-2025] Two Women Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash with Semi-Truck on Highway 101 Near San ArdoTwo women were hospitalized with major injuries following a head-on collision involving a semi-truck on Wednesday morning, April 9, 2025, on Highway 101 near San Ardo in Monterey County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 6:00 a.m. when a 64-year-old man driving a Freightliner northbound on Highway 101 crossed through the median and began traveling in the wrong direction.

The truck collided head-on with a Buick, which was driven by a 47-year-old woman carrying two passengers. The passengers, identified as a 45-year-old and a 75-year-old woman, sustained major injuries in the crash.

Emergency crews transported both injured women to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas for treatment.

Southbound lanes of Highway 101 were temporarily closed but have since been reopened. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
