[04-07-2026] Santa Barbara County, CA – Nine Injured in Three Multi-Car Crashes on Southbound 101 Freeway in Goleta

Three multi-car crashes on the southbound 101 freeway in Goleta resulted in nine people being hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries on Tuesday evening, April 7, 2026.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the first crash occurred between Fairview and Patterson, involving five vehicles. 

The second crash, in the same area, involved two cars. The third crash occurred between Patterson and Turnpike and involved four vehicles, injuring two people.

The first two crashes sent seven people to the hospital, and the California Highway Patrol reduced the southbound 101 to just one lane while emergency crews responded.

The investigation is ongoing.
