[04-07-2024] 36-Year-Old Rider Killed After Motorcycle vs. Truck Collision Along Interstate 5 36-year-old rider was killed after a motorcycle vs. truck collision in Merced County late Sunday evening, April 7, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred around 11:53 p.m. along Interstate 5, north of Canyon Road.

A 56-year-old driver named Ramiro O. was heading north in a 2015 Volvo semi-truck pulling a box trailer when its two tires detached from the trailer.

A 36-year-old motorcyclist was also traveling north, passing the truck, when the tires collided with the rider. The impact ejected the victim from the motorcycle and onto the road.

The unidentified rider was declared dead at the scene. It is unknown if the truck driver stayed on site or not.

Alcohol and drugs were dismissed as factors in the fatal collision. The authorities have not released further information.
