[04-06-2024] 57-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed Following Bicycle Vs. Vehicle Collision Near Lost HillsA 57-year-old bicyclist was killed following a bicycle vs. vehicle collision near Lost  Hills, Kern County, on Saturday morning, April 6, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident happened at around 5:40 a.m. along Highway 46, east of Lost Hills Road.

Officers said that a Chevrolet Silverado was heading west on Highway 46 behind the bicyclist, who was on the right shoulder of the roadway. Initial reports suggest that the Chevy driver, for some reason, steered directly toward the bicycle, hitting its back with the vehicle’s front end.

The impact of the crash ejected the rider from the bicycle, inflicting fatal injuries. The victim was later identified as Donacio A., 57, from Lost Hills.

It is still unclear if the driver remained at the scene or not. The cause of the accident is also still under investigation.
