A 4-year-old girl was killed in an SUV rollover crash on National Trails Highway at Ponnay Street in the unincorporated community of Daggett, just east of Barstow, on Saturday evening, April 5, 2025.
According to CHP Officer Shane Hernandez, at around 8:30 p.m., personnel from the California Highway Patrol were dispatched to the intersection of National Trails Highway and Ponnay Street.
The crash involved a 2020 Cadillac SUV traveling eastbound, driven by a 30-year-old woman from Newberry Springs. The passengers included a 4-year-old girl, a 5-year-old child, and a 6-month-old infant, all of whom were believed to have been properly restrained.
The SUV reportedly veered onto the right shoulder and struck an ascending dirt embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn. After the crash, the driver was able to remove the 5-year-old and infant, both of whom were not significantly injured.
Paramedics performed CPR on the 4-year-old girl and transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
The California Highway Patrol Barstow Area Office is investigating the cause of the collision.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
