[03-29-2025] Driver Injured in DUI Hit-And-Run Crash at Cleveland Avenue and Highway 99 Off-RampA driver sustained minor injuries following a DUI hit-and-run collision involving three vehicles at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and the Highway 99 off-ramp in Madera on Saturday morning, March 29, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 9:00 a.m. when a 26-year-old man from Gilroy, driving a white Chevrolet Equinox, exited southbound Highway 99 at a high rate of speed toward Cleveland Avenue.

The driver of the Equinox reportedly collided with a raised median and a traffic control signal before striking the left side of a red Honda Accord driven by a 22-year-old man from Madera, who was stopped at a red light.

The impact pushed the Honda into the left side of a white Chevrolet Traverse driven by a 53-year-old man from Madera, causing both vehicles to overturn.

The driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, while the driver of the Traverse was not injured.

The driver of the Equinox fled the scene on foot but was located by officers at a nearby business.

Authorities determined that the suspect was under the influence of both alcohol and drugs. He was arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI and hit-and-run.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
