[03-27-2024] Woman Killed, Others Injured Following Multi-Vehicle Collision in BakersfieldA woman was killed, and others were injured following a multi-vehicle collision in Bakersfield on Wednesday afternoon, March 27, 2024. 

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the collision happened around 4:54 p.m. at the intersection of Ashe Road and Harris Road. 

Authorities stated that a man driving a black Volkswagen was heading westbound in the 6300 block of Harris Road when he veered into the eastbound lanes. The vehicle then collided with a red Honda and a black Mini Cooper.

A woman sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died. Other involved individuals suffered from minor injuries. The number of injured people remains unclear.

Police said the driver of the Volkswagen is cooperating with the responding officials. Impairment does not appear to be the factor of the collision. 

No further information was released. The investigation continues.
