A 22-year-old woman was killed in a crash involving a dump truck after reportedly failing to stop at a stop sign near McFarland on Monday morning, March 24, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded at approximately 7:51 a.m. to the intersection of Stradley Avenue and Peterson Road following reports of a two-vehicle collision.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman, identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as Jessica S. of Delano, was driving a 2017 Honda Accord southbound on Stradley Avenue at an undetermined speed.
At the same time, a 41-year-old man driving a 2018 Volvo dump truck was making a northbound turn onto Stradley Avenue from eastbound Peterson Road.
The intersection is controlled by a stop sign for traffic traveling north and south on Stradley Avenue. The CHP said the Honda driver failed to come to a complete stop, causing the front of her vehicle to collide with the left side of the dump truck.
The Honda driver died at the scene. Investigators determined she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the dump truck remained at the scene and was not injured.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the collision, according to CHP.
