Two people were killed following a crash involving a motorcycle and a car in East Long Beach on Sunday evening, March 23, 2025.
According to Long Beach Fire Department Capt. Jack Crabtree, the crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Wardlow Road and Woodruff Avenue.
An elderly man was driving a 2006 Toyota Highlander with an elderly woman passenger when it collided with a 2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle traveling northbound on Woodruff Avenue.
The Toyota was making a left turn from southbound Woodruff onto eastbound Wardlow Road at the time of the crash.
Paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed that the motorcyclist and the woman in the car had died. The motorcyclist was identified as 28-year-old Austin L. of Lakewood. The identity of the female passenger has not yet been released pending family notification.
The driver of the Toyota was transported to a hospital in stable condition as a precaution.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
