According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded to the 6600 block of Cottonwood Road around 10:03 p.m. and found a gray Honda sedan and a white Jeep SUV disabled in the roadway.

The Honda was occupied by a woman driver and a juvenile passenger, while the Jeep was driven by a man. Both drivers sustained minor to moderate injuries, and all parties were transported to a hospital. The juvenile girl in the Honda suffered severe injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the Jeep driver veered into the opposing lane and collided with the northbound Honda.

The driver of the Jeep was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI.

The investigation remains ongoing.
