A man and a child from Ceres were killed in a head-on collision caused by a suspected DUI driver on Highway 165 near Turner Avenue in Merced County early Saturday morning, March 22, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. when 20-year-old Melissa R., driving a BMW at high speed, collided head-on with a Honda.
The Honda was occupied by a man in his 40s and a child, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
The BMW driver sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital in Modesto for treatment.
Investigators believe Rosales was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. She is expected to be arrested for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter upon her release from the hospital.
