A 4-year-old girl died after a DUI-related crash in Hickman, Stanislaus County, late Saturday night, March 8, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 11:00 p.m. near Arlberg and Canal Bank Roads, about 30 minutes west of Modesto.
A Subaru, driven by 26-year-old Juliette A. of Oakdale, was heading south on Arlberg Road when it veered off the road, sideswiping a telephone pole. The vehicle then crossed Canal Bank Road, went up an embankment, and became submerged in a waterway.
The driver’s uncle, who lives nearby, heard the crash and rushed to the scene, managing to rescue Juliette. Authorities later found them on top of the submerged vehicle, reporting that the driver’s 4-year-old daughter was still inside.
A Stanislaus County deputy entered the water and rescued the child, who was then transported to Memorial Medical Center. She later succumbed to her injuries.
Officers determined the driver showed “objective signs of intoxication” and arrested her for felony DUI. She was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center and later released on bail on Monday.
Authorities are continuing their investigation.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
