A pedestrian was killed, and another was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in Truckee, Nevada County, on Saturday evening, March 8, 2025.
According to the Truckee Police Department, the crash occurred around 6:10 p.m. near the Donner Lake boat launch on Donner Pass Road.
Emergency responders transported one of the victims to a nearby hospital in critical condition, while the second pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identities.
The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. However, the driver was later arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.
The roadway was closed for an extended period as authorities conducted their investigation. The incident remains under investigation.
