A woman in a wheelchair was struck and killed by a vehicle on Forty Mile Road between the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and the Toyota Amphitheatre in Yuba County early Saturday morning, March 7, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. along Forty Mile Road. Emergency crews responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures.
Authorities said the woman was later identified by her family as 60-year-old Cynthia Romero. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP reported that the driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officials also stated that drugs or alcohol did not appear to have been factors in the collision.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
