[02-23-2026] Santa Barbara County, CA – Pedestrian Struck by SUV on De La Guerra St.

A female pedestrian was struck by an SUV on De La Guerra Street in Santa Barbara on Monday night, February 23, 2026.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near Nona’s SB Italian Deli and apartments, prompting police to temporarily close De La Guerra Street between Vine and Laguna streets for an investigation. 

A young man, who was reportedly trying to stretch along the curb, was taken into custody, though it is unclear if he was involved in the crash.

The SUV was later found on a nearby street near Canon Perdido Street. Officers questioned witnesses in the area.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, but her condition has not been released.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
