[02-22-2026] Riverside County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle on Grand Ave in Lake Elsinore.webpBenjamin D., a 48-year-old Lake Elsinore resident, was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Grand Avenue in Lake Elsinore on Sunday night, February 22, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. as a 2022 Toyota RAV4 was traveling south on Grand Avenue near Marvella Lane at approximately 45 mph. 

Investigators said the victim was walking within the southbound lane directly in the vehicle’s path when he was struck. Cal Fire paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

CHP determined that the 51-year-old Murrieta driver of the Toyota had been driving while intoxicated and placed him under arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. 

Although he reported no injuries, officers transported the driver to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted.

The investigation remains ongoing.
