[02-11-2026] Tuolumne County, CA – DUI Arrest After Crash on Highway 49 in Jamestown.webpA Tuolumne man was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) after crashing his SUV on Highway 49 in Jamestown, Tuolumne County, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

The collision occurred just south of Wigwam Road when 57-year-old Allan W. was driving a 2006 Jeep Wrangler northbound on Highway 49 with 40-year-old Paul N. of Sonora as his passenger.

According to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Officer Steve Machado, a dog suddenly ran into the roadway and was struck by the Jeep, causing the driver to lose control. The SUV veered off the road and overturned.

The passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered minor injuries. He was treated at the scene. The driver also sustained minor injuries and was transported to Adventist Health Sonora for treatment.

During the investigation, CHP determined that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested him on felony charges for DUI causing bodily injury. The dog involved in the crash did not survive, though its breed or whether it was a stray was not confirmed.

The driver was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail following the incident.
