A man died at Mercy Medical Center in Redding after being struck by two vehicles on Highway 273 in Anderson on Wednesday night, February 11, 2026.
The Anderson Police Department (APD) responded to the scene at 9:36 p.m. along the northbound lane of Highway 273, just north of Briggs Street. EMS crews were already performing life-saving measures on the unidentified male pedestrian when officers arrived.
An initial investigation revealed that the man had been walking southbound on the northbound shoulder of Highway 273. He was described as jumping in and out of traffic before being struck by two vehicles.
Officers confirmed Thursday morning that the man had died at Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Neither driver was found to be impaired at the time of the crash. Both drivers cooperated with the investigation and were released from the scene. The man’s identity is being withheld pending identification by the Shasta County Coroner’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation.
