[02-09-2025] Two Rescued After Vehicle Plunges Off Embankment on South Jetty in LoletaTwo people were rescued after their vehicle went off a steep embankment on the South Jetty in Loleta, Humboldt County, on Sunday morning, February 9, 2025.

According to the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department, multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Loleta Volunteer Fire Department, Cal Fire, Rio Dell Volunteer Fire Department, Eureka City Ambulance, California Highway Patrol, and the United States Coast Guard.

Two firefighters rappelled down the embankment to assist medics already providing care to the vehicle’s occupants. The firefighters and medics secured the victims and carefully hoisted them up to an awaiting ambulance.

The extent of the victims’ injuries remains unknown. Authorities are investigating the incident.
