A bicyclist was killed after being struck in a hit-and-run collision in Long Beach on Saturday evening, February 7, 2026.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were called at about 4:48 p.m. to the intersection of Redondo Avenue and East 2nd Street following reports of an injured cyclist.
Officers arrived to find an adult woman on a bicycle and a bystander who had stopped to help.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Her identity has not been released pending notification of relatives by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.
Investigators said the bicyclist was traveling southbound on Redondo Avenue and entered the intersection when a gray 2025 Hyundai Sonata traveling westbound on East 2nd Street ran a stop sign at a high rate of speed and struck her. The driver fled the scene and was last seen continuing west on East 2nd Street from Redondo Avenue.
The Long Beach Police Department said speed is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash. Anyone with information was asked to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Edwin Paredes at (562) 570-7110.
What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
