A 17-year-old pedestrian was killed after being struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross Highway 99 in northwest Fresno on Thursday morning, February 5, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were called to the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near Herndon Avenue just before 9:00 a.m.
Investigators said the teen ran in front of a pickup truck traveling in the far right lane while attempting to cross the freeway toward the center divider.
CHP officials stated that the driver of the pickup truck was unable to avoid the collision. Paramedics and officers provided medical aid to the teen, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities reported that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officials also indicated that alcohol or drugs were not believed to be factors in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
