One person was killed, and another was injured after their vehicle crashed into a Metro Line maintenance yard fence after running off a freeway in Long Beach early Thursday morning, January 30, 2025.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the incident at around 2:57 a.m. on the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway near the Del Amo Boulevard off-ramp.
According to authorities, the driver of the SUV struck a freeway sign before veering off the freeway and colliding with the fence, trapping the occupants inside the vehicle.
Emergency responders pronounced one passenger dead at the scene, while another occupant was transported to a hospital in an unknown condition by Long Beach Fire Department personnel.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
