Firefighters knocked down and contained a grass fire that broke out along the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway near the Pasadena (110) Freeway interchange in Elysian Park, Los Angeles, on Friday afternoon, January 24, 2025.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Elysian fire was first reported just before 4:00 p.m. and was described as “slow-moving,” burning through medium brush on the side of the freeway near Dodger Stadium.
At 4:50 p.m., LAFD deployed additional resources, including five more engines, to assist with water supply due to the fire’s remote location, which was far from hydrants and only accessible via the freeway. A total of 43 firefighters, along with park rangers, worked to suppress the blaze.
By 4:47 p.m., firefighters achieved full knockdown and containment of the flames. No injuries or structural damage were reported.
Authorities are investigating reports that the fire may have been intentionally set, though no official confirmation has been provided.
No acreage estimates have been released as of 5:30 p.m. Officials advise motorists to remain cautious in the area.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
