Three people were killed, and two others were injured in a crash involving a semi-truck and a Toyota at the intersection of Kansas Avenue and 17th Avenue, south of Lemoore in Kings County, late Friday night, January 24, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. when the driver of a Toyota traveling southbound on 17th Avenue failed to yield at the intersection and entered the path of an eastbound semi-truck on Kansas Avenue. The impact sent the Toyota off the road and into a metal pole.
Two passengers in the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third person succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The driver of the Toyota and the front-seat passenger sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that none of the three rear passengers in the Toyota were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The semi-truck driver was uninjured.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing, and no additional information has been released at this time.
