[01-20-2026] Kern County, CA – Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Oswell St. in East Bakersfield

A person was struck and killed by a vehicle on Oswell Street in east Bakersfield on Tuesday evening, January 20, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 5:45 p.m. just north of Pioneer Drive. 

Details of the incident were not immediately available, but reports indicated that the pedestrian was running across lanes before being struck by the vehicle.
