[01-18-2026] San Bernardino County, CA – DUI Arrest After Crash Into Utility Pole in Apple Valley.webpA man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a single-vehicle crash into a utility pole on Central Road near El Centro Road in Apple Valley, San Bernardino County, on Sunday afternoon, January 18, 2026.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported around 2:23 p.m. and involved a silver 2000 Acura occupied by two people. 

Authorities said the vehicle struck a wooden utility pole, sending the driver to a hospital. The passenger declined medical transport. The collision caused a power outage affecting nearby homes and businesses until approximately 8:00 p.m.

Sheriff’s officials identified the driver as 43-year-old Luis M. of Apple Valley. He was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher. Jail records showed he was cited and released the following morning.

The Apple Valley Police Department is handling the investigation, which remains ongoing.
