[01-15-2025] Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle While Riding Electric Scooter on La Sierra AvenueA man riding an electric scooter was struck and killed by a vehicle in Riverside on Wednesday afternoon, January 15, 2025.

According to the Riverside Police Department, the collision occurred around 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of La Sierra Avenue and Spaulding Drive.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was riding an electric scooter southbound in the northbound lanes of La Sierra Avenue when he was struck head-on by a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old woman. The driver had just turned northbound onto La Sierra Avenue from La Sierra High School.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.

Police confirmed that the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. It is still unclear if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the incident.
