The Alameda Police Department identified the victim as Karen C., a resident of Alameda. The incident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. when a 70-year-old male driver, also an Alameda resident, was making a westbound turn and struck Conway as she crossed the street.

Emergency responders found Conway in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police reported that the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the collision.
