According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred around 5:48 p.m. near the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Eleventh Avenue on the Hesperia side. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and confirmed that the pedestrian sustained critical injuries.

A helicopter was requested and landed at Desert Valley Hospital, where the patient was transferred and then airlifted to an out-of-area trauma center for further treatment.

Multiple vehicles remained at the scene, though it was not immediately clear which vehicle, if any, was involved in the collision.

A witness at the location stated the pedestrian was possibly a male, though that information has not been officially confirmed.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
