[01-12-2026] Big Rig Overturns on Southbound Hwy 99 at Le Grand Road, Causing Lane Closures.webpA section of southbound Highway 99 in Merced County was closed following a crash involving an overturned big rig that damaged guardrails early Monday morning, January 12, 2026. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at Le Grand Road ,and the scene was cleared around 4:30 a.m. However, lane three of southbound Highway 99 will remain closed for guardrail repairs. 

CHP explained that guardrails are essential for absorbing impact and preventing vehicles from crossing into other lanes or off the roadway, and repairs must be completed before traffic can safely return to normal.

CHP asked drivers to slow down and watch for crews working near traffic as they approach the area.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
