A 54-year-old man, identified as Hector C., was killed after being struck by a suspected DUI driver in San Jose on Sunday night, January 12, 2025.
The San Jose Police Department responded to reports of a collision at approximately 10:49 p.m. near Lincoln Avenue and Lonus Street.
Investigators said a 2014 white Acura SUV was traveling northbound on Lincoln Avenue when it struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the street from west to east.
Authorities noted that the victim was not in a crosswalk at the time of the incident, though state law permits crossing where it is safe, regardless of marked or unmarked crosswalks.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.
The driver remained at the scene and was taken into custody. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter after being confirmed under the influence of alcohol.
There is no additional information immediately available.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
