[01-12-2025] Woman Killed After Being Run Over by Suspected DUI Driver in San YsidroA woman was killed early after being accidentally run over by a vehicle while she was sleeping near a retaining wall in San Ysidro on Sunday morning, January 12, 2025.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:47 a.m. in the 600 block of E. San Ysidro Boulevard. 

A man who had spent the night in Tijuana returned to his parked car and mistakenly accelerated forward instead of reversing, driving over the retaining wall where the woman was sleeping.

The vehicle became stuck, prompting the driver to call a tow truck. Upon arrival, the tow truck driver discovered the woman trapped beneath the car and immediately called 911.

First responders performed lifesaving measures but pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The San Diego Police Department is actively investigating the incident.
