[01-12-2025] Woman Killed After Suspected Two-Vehicle DUI Crash in PerrisA 26-year-old woman, identified as Jocelyn M., was killed in a collision involving a suspected DUI driver in Perris early Sunday morning, January 12, 2025.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Placentia Avenue and the southbound Interstate 215 Freeway around 12:20 a.m.

Deputies arrived to find a Dodge pickup truck and a Toyota sedan involved in the crash. Jocelyn M., the driver of the sedan, was unresponsive and suffered significant injuries. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene within 10 minutes.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was exiting the freeway at Placentia Avenue when the westbound suspect struck her vehicle in the intersection.

The suspect, identified as Ivan S. of Perris, attempted to flee but was apprehended nearby. Authorities reported that he showed signs of impairment.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run resulting in death, and DUI causing bodily injury. He is being held at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on $1 million bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
