Two people were injured, and traffic was halted in both directions on Highway 41 in northern San Luis Obispo County following a crash and fire on Friday afternoon, January 9, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. when a vehicle overturned and caught fire just north of the Cholame Y.

One occupant sustained minor injuries, and the other suffered moderate injuries. Both individuals were transported to the hospital—one by air and the other by ground.
Cal Fire was in the process of extinguishing the fire as of around 1:10 p.m.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
