According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 9:30 a.m. Smoke was visible coming from the scene of the collision. CHP said the coroner had been called to the scene.

CHP also stated that Highway 223 would be closed from Stine Road to Wible Road for an unknown duration as they investigated the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
